- Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) a Division of NIST Showcases Vuzix Blade Application at CES 2020
- AR Application Provides Critical Information to Responding Officer During Traffic Stop Scenario
Rilispedia.com – Vuzix® Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI), (“Vuzix” or, the “Company”), a leading supplier of Smart Glasses and Augmented Reality (AR) technology and products, today announced that the Company’s Vuzix Blade® Smart Glasses were selected by the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Public Safety Communications Research Division (PSCR) to demonstrate an augmented reality traffic stop scenario for first responders at CES 2020.
Using the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses, PSCR will demonstrate an AR application that provides critical information to the responding officer during a traffic stop scenario. While wearing smart glasses that appear like an ordinary pair of eyewear, the officer will see a visual cue of color and accompanying haptic feedback (vibration) when viewing a driver license with a criminal record. The officer can compare this to the different cues they receive when viewing a license with no criminal record or a license that cannot be matched to a record. This demonstration intends to simulate the kind of technology that provides situation awareness information that is unobtrusive to the user.
“NIST’s PSCR Division has developed a powerful use case for first responders using the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses,” said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix. “Vuzix continues to steadily expand its presence in the security and first responder space and NIST’s demonstration represents the latest example of this expansion.”
NIST’s Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) Division will exhibit in Las Vegas, Nevada at Tech East South Halls 3-4 at Booth #31877 from January 7-10.
